Family Promise of Ode
ssa opened in January, our first new
Affiliate of 2010 and the eleventh network in the state of Texas.
Approximately 300 children were homeless in Odessa’s home county of Ector in 2008, including 114 under the age of five. One out of every ninety people in the county experienced homelessness that year. The total is expected to grow when the 2009 numbers are available.
Working with representatives from the program in Lubbock, the local ministerium have built a network of fourteen congregations to begin serving families. The Day Center is a fully-furnished pre-fabricated home, donated by a local oil company. When a news story ran on television about their need for a van, three appeared the next day as anonymous donations!
Best of luck, Odessa.
