5 PM biking 100 miles along the Jersey shore in
32-degree weather to raise funds and awareness for family homelessness. She was accompanied the entire distance by Jay Robertson, while Ed Mulligan and Mike Truett biked 30 miles and supplied hot tea and carbs.
The ride enabled Jamie to have conversations with people she met along the way about Family Promise and their special effort to generate, by year’s end, the funds needed to develop 10 new Affiliates in some of the nation’s most economically distressed communities.
Over the past three years she has run two half marathons and completed an Olympic Distance Triathlon, all in support of Family Promise. Her efforts, combined with the generosity of friends, family and colleagues, have helped to raise over $100,000 for the organization. “My ‘MO’ is the ‘show and go’—I don’t train for these physical endeavors, and I like to see it as a mental challenge to get it done,” said Haenggi.
Among the friends she made along the way was a local company that offered to provide road support when she organizes next year’s ride. “Yes, I’m doing it again next year,” said Haenggi, “but I’ll look to recruit more folks and really make an event out of it. Don’t worry, it won’t be in November—I’m thinking more like Summer time…and I hear Florida is flat, too!”

Your gift will help build new Affiliates and help homeless families achieve lasting independence.
