Family Promise Welcomes Cape May, NJ, Affiliate

Family Promise of Cape May, New Jersey has just opened its doors, becoming the 141st Family Promise Affiliate and the 14th in the Garden State.

The Affiliate opens with 11 hosts and 11 support congregations throughout the community.  Director Laurie Johnson and case manager Kathleen O'Neill are on board, with their center of operations in a day center located in a small mall in Rio Grande.

The first host is First United Methodist Church of Cape May, supported by First Presbyterian Church. The congregations welcomed the Affiliate's first guest family, a mom with a 17-year-old and a 13-year-old, who had been staying in a motel room.  Once the 13-year-old understood how the Interfaith Hospitality Network worked, he gave the director a big hug and said, "that's really nice of you."  The family's two parakeets are adding to the décor and ambiance at the day center.
