Affiliate #151: Family Promise of Casper, Wyoming

Casper is now home to the second network in the state of Wyoming. It becomes the 16th and final network to open nationwide in 2009.

Casper’s economy is based on the energy markets. As they fluctuate, so do the well-paying jobs necessary to meet the high costs of the local housing market. The result is that between 250 and 500 children in Natrona County are classified as homeless.

Affiliate development efforts were led by a former Phoenix network board member who worked diligently to bring the program to Wyoming’s second largest city.Family Promise of Casper’s director is James Cummings, an experienced social worker with deep ties to the state.

The network began hosting on December 1. The first clients were a family of four who entered the program after a fire took everything, even their birth certificates.Mom has already found employment via network contacts and Dad is interviewing.Their 19 year-old daughter is working at Wendy’s and their 15 year-old son is enrolled in the local high school.
